Residents of Berks County, Pennsylvania have the privilege of saying they're from Taylor Swift's hometown. Luckily, I am one of those residents. Having a country and pop star as big as Taylor from your hometown generates a lot of excitement, especially for a small Pennsylvania town. There are few traditions that Reading, Pennsylvania residents hold to honor our beloved Taylor.
1. The local stadium honors her at every game.
There’s an inning break at every minor league baseball game where they play one of her songs while they toss soft balls into the crowd. They mention that she sang the national anthem there when she was younger.
2. Everyone has stories about how they knew her way back when.
Whether they gave her horseback riding lessons or went to school with her, everyone has their stories.
3. You know where she bought her guitar.
It’s actually only a few minutes from my house. They have a little sign in their window that says Taylor bought a guitar here.
4. When you tell people where you’re from, they immediately ask you, “Isn’t that where Taylor Swift grew up?”
Then you have to tell them everything you know. You also have to listen to them tell all their friends about how you live where Taylor Swift lived. “Do you know where her house is?” Yes, yes I do.
5. You freaked out when she came home for her best friend’s wedding.
You couldn’t get anywhere close to the wedding, but the fact that she was in the same county was enough to make you excited
6. You think you're the biggest fan.
I'm a firm believer that the biggest Swifties live in Berks County, Pennsylvania. We are forever wishing that she will come back to Reading for a small concert. Her last Reading performance was in 2007, which is pictured above.
