It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that I am an avid book reader. But sometimes life gets in the way and it is difficult to find time to read and then it’s even harder to get back into it, no matter how much you enjoy it. But there are simple ways to get back into reading and sticking with it.

1. Start simple.

Pick a short book to read or reread a book that you love. Reading something short takes the pressure of a commitment off and the familiarity and anticipation of a book you already know you enjoy gives you the motivation to keep reading it.

2. If you like a book, look for something similar.

Think of your absolute favorite book; I guarantee there is another book out there that is similar to it. Some authors like Cassandra Claire create different stories in the same universe as the original book or series, almost guaranteeing you will enjoy it.

3. Don’t be afraid to branch out anyway.

Reading a genre or author I never thought I would like but do always has me looking for more books like it; forcing me to try something new.

4. But staying in your comfort zone is OK too.

It’s always good to read things you know you like, it’s more likely to keep you reading and motivate you to start again because you already know you will like it.

5. Keep up-to-date on books you may like.

To do this, I use the Goodreads app. It recommends me books based on books I’ve listed that I have read. It is really useful when looking for something new.

6. Set goals.

I try to read at least a chapter a day and if I have the time, I’ll try to read at least 100 pages, but that is mostly when I’m reading my 1,000-page books. The point is to set a goal and do your best to meet it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
