Stress is something almost everyone deals with at some point in their life. It's not pleasant and it will drive you crazy. It's caused by so many different things and sometimes, you just need to find a way to relieve yourself.

1. Talk to someone

I never thought for one second talking to someone would help relieve some of my stress. Talking wasn't going to get rid of any of my worries, so I didn't see what the point was. However, I thought wrong. Talking gets rid of some of that heavy weight holding you down. Talk to a friend, a parent, a sibling, a professional. Whoever it is, just talk and let them know because it can help more than you think.

2. Listen to Music

Music is good for so many things. You could be jamming with your best friends in the car blasting your favorite song. You could use it to help yourself fall asleep. It's also really good for stress. Laying back, closing your eyes and listening to your favorite artist is so soothing. It distracts your mind from whatever it is thinking and your stress is gone for those few moments of peace.

3. Exercise

Doing some form of cardio is something I have found to be very helpful when I am stressed. Yes, I am sweaty and tired after, but I know exercising is a good way to blow off steam. I try and think about what it is that is stressing me out. Then, I run towards it chasing it and hoping I chased it far away. I know it's unrealistic to chase stress away, but it feels good to work hard at it. If you don't like cardio, try boxing, ab workouts, whatever works best for you; make it worthwhile.

4. Coloring

A lot of people may think that coloring is for little kids, but I have bought my own adult coloring book and ever since I bought it, I have felt less stressed. Your mind is purely focused on the color scheme, coloring inside the lines and the patterns and shapes this book has to offer. It gives your mind a sense of ease because all your doing is coloring. Who doesn't love coloring?

5. Spend time with family and friends

Being surrounded by people who love you and who you love as well can easily bring peace to your cluttered mind. You share jokes, tell memories and feel comfortable around these people. They brighten your day and sometimes, that's all you need to get rid of the stress for a little bit.

6.Breathe

We all get a little caught up in what's going on around us. We have busy lives that occupy our every move. One thing I think a lot of us forget to do is just breathe. Know that in the end, it will all work out. Whatever is causing you stress will end eventually. It's important to remember to take a deep breath every once in a while. Believe it or not, it could help.

I know not all of these things will work for everyone, and not all of these ideas will make the stress go away forever. However, participating in some of these activities weekly or even daily will sooner or later bring your mind to a state of peace. It did for me, so hopefully it will for you!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
