1. Budgeting.
Yeah yeah don't order B-Dubs twice a week, but seriously if your finances are the only thing you plan out for this vacation that's perfectly okay. Finding a flight for $60 dollars cheaper means you can splurge on a new VS bikini. A hotel with three pools, an aquarium, and a spa might sound like a good idea, but you will most likely only sleep there. Find a balance between amenities and price. Do not drunk order room service, do not think about buying a 50 dollar sun hat, do not keep your tab open the entire day.
2. Sunscreen.
Listen to your mother. A lobster red back can make a vacation-ouch. You will not want to lay out and tan when your arms are 500 degrees. Sunburn can drain your energy levels and sun poisoning is the worst. Running around all over the beach and streets will be much more fun when you do not feel a constant burn on your neck. You'll still come home with color, you just won't have your skin peeling all over your clothes.
3. Pack smart.
Go through your daily routine, how many pairs of shorts do you need? Sunglasses are a must. You'll be barefoot in the ocean half of the time, you do not need eight pairs of flip flops. Try to keep it light so you can bring things back, plus airlines will tack on pesky charges for more luggage. You'll want going out clothes and lounge clothes. Remember all the things you need to get ready for the day from contacts to toothpaste, no one wants to be at CVS all afternoon on spring break.
4. Expectations.
Do not plan to fall in love in the pit of a concert on the beach. Do not plan on not spending too much money. Do not plan on sleeping. Do not plan on not getting sick of anyone you're with. Do not plan on eating healthy. Don't over think and over plan everything, you will stress yourself out and not have a good time
5. Safety.
No one likes to talk about the bad things that can happen on a fun spring break trip. If you go to a bar, do not let your friend leave without you, even if it is to talk to the cute guy on the patio. Do not throw your awareness out the window. If something does not feel right, chances are it isn't. Remember freshman year when you kept track how many drinks you had and didn't set your drink down? Bring back those drinking limitations. To be in a new place, severely intoxicated does not end well. If you decide to go home with someone, go about it safely- someone needs to know where you are at all times.
6. Having a blast.
Remember spring break is supposed to be fun. If you're too worried about safety or money, you won't be focusing on partying with your friends. Plan a little so you get what you want out of spring break, but if you plan too much you'll be the mom of the trip. Don't forget to take a million pictures, so you can show everyone how #PCB2k15 cool you are.
