6 Throwbacks Making a Comeback This Summer

These things are back in the spotlight this summer and warming the hearts of 90s and 00s kids alike.

Crazy things are happening this year, for instance Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar, and Kevin is the only Jonas Brother not currently producing music. This seems to be the summer of comebacks, and I don't mean the ones that you wish you had thought of while you were arguing with your frenemy. No, I mean the things that will make you stop and think, "what's my age again?" I know that we have all heard the saying that "history repeats itself" and that the things that were popular ages ago come back in a cycle- well how about all at once.

1. Blink-182

While it sounds similar to what they have released in the past, Blink-182 released their new single "Bored to Death" about a month ago after an 11 year hiatus- the band self-produced their first EP in 1993.

2. Finding Nemo

Although a sequel hardly counts as a comeback, it did take thirteen years for the original viewers of Finding Nemo to finally get Finding Dory. I have not yet seen it, though I heard it went swimmingly.

3. Pokémon

I am sure that by now, everyone is well aware that Pokémon is back in the spotlight with its new mobile app, Pokémon Go.

4. Ghostbusters

The original Ghostbusters movie made its debut in 1984, and with this remake, we can see that many things have changed since we left the 80s.

5. My Chemical Romance

I think this is my favorite comeback on the list, it warms my heart to see that My Chemical Romance is on the radar again. Short background story, I wore my only My Chemical Romance t-shirt to my friend's birthday party on THE day that they announced that they were breaking up- we almost cried together when we heard the news. Although they have not announced what is to come on September 23rd, their fandom has arisen, armed and ready with their thick eyeliner.

6. Candy

Even candy brands are going old school, bringing back the original, now "retro," packaging. Mars is celebrating the 75th anniversary of M&Ms, and Nestle's brand Wonka has done a "throwback" look for its boxed candies.

Since there is still a little over a month until school starts again, hopefully there are more comebacks in store for this summer. With all the things that seem to be making a comeback this summer, perhaps the Bernie supporters are in luck.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
