For many people, summertime means going on adventures, but within those who go on summer adventures would take in the form of attending a summer comic convention, or a "Con". Comic and entertainment conventions are often a social gathering of people passionate about many forms of media, whether it is comic books, movies, TV shows, and sometimes even video-making! Con-goers can travel far and wide for one weekend to explore their inner or outer geek with all the perks and limits of being a part of the con experience.
1.LINES!!!
Of course, with any huge event, you'll run into lines everywhere at any con. It could be the line for autographs, to register, for food, or to even take a picture with a guy dressed as He-Man. The best way to avoid any lines is to arrive at the convention early to register and to have a good time without waiting.
2.Costumes Everywhere!
Costume Play or "cosplay" is very popular in conventions where people of all ages dress as their favorite characters from fictional work or even come up with creative costumes that haven't been done before. Cosplay groups have become so popular in conventions that they are one of the most common ways to befriend people.
3.You will come across at least one Deadpool.
The Merc' with a Mouth is a popular choice of costume in any given convention. Even if a convention has nothing to do with comic books or superheroes, you will still seek out a familiar red and black figure. In some cases, Deadpools would gather in flocks in different variations of the Marvel character.
4.Company booths that give away free stuff.
Conventions can be expensive to fund, with some company sponsorship's, plenty of people can have the opportunity to attend a convention. In addition, companies will have their own booths to promote their brand with free stuff!
5.Celebrity Panels.
Conventions are also a place to have the opportunity to meet your favorite actor or actress, or even comic book writer. Celebrity panels have always been the main event in any convention as fans and celebs connect through the Q and A session.
6.Merchandise EVERYWHERE!!
If spending money on a weekend pass and an autograph isn't enough, conventions have huge exhibitor halls where con-goers can purchase new swag that relates to their favorite series. There are merchandise booths from companies that will sell various items like action figures or clothes, and then there is an artist alley where fans can buy drawn art of their favorite character or even get themselves a self-portrait to support local artists.
