You are not a child anymore

No matter how much you wish it were true; you are not a child anymore. This means making your own doctors appointments and going food shopping for yourself. You can’t call your parents to do everything for you. You have rent that needs to be paid and you can’t spend your night just sitting in front of the TV not worrying about anything.

You are not as carefree as you would like to be

Nothing beats coming home from school, barely having any homework and just relaxing. Watching your favorite after-school television show and having a snack is a lot better than doing homework all the time and going to work.

You realize the younger generations knows a lot more than they should

You wish you were still that creative and free

Schoolwork and jobs have taken over your life. There is no time to just sit down and play with a coloring book or relax with your friends. You always have something to do and somewhere to be.

You realize you don’t have all the energy you used to

As a child, you thought nap time was annoying, you just wanted to play with your friends, but now as an adult you try to sneak in a nap anywhere you can. You feel like an old person every time you wake up.

You realize adulthood isn’t what you wanted it to be

When you were younger you just wanted to grow up. You would hit the magic age of 18 and everything would magically change. You would be free and not have to worry about your parents controlling you.

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
