6 Things You Know If You're A Fan girl

Being dedicated to a band you love isn't always the easiest thing.

Being a fangirl isn’t always the stereotypical girl that’s in love with the drummer. It’s having a full closet of merchandise, or spending too much money on concerts or albums. It’s cringing about the thought of anyone from your school finding out your Tumblr or reading your fanfictions on Wattpad. It’s getting teased for being too obsessed with some people halfway across the world who don’t even know you exist. But, it’s also about being in it for the music, and supporting those band members until the end, and after. It’s making so many amazing friends that have common interests as you. You wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

1. Your closet looks like hot topic.

When you’re a fan girl, you’re known to have an endless amount of band tees. On holidays, you always get told to change into ‘something nicer,’ and reply with,”But mom! This is my favorite band!” It’s also awesome to see someone wearing a band tee of a band you like when you’re in public, especially when you find them attractive, and you silently pray that they notice your band tee and talk to you.

2. Your wallet is empty because of new merchandise, concerts, albums, etc.

Once your favorite band releases tour dates, new tee shirts or mugs, or even an album, your first instinct is to buy it. No matter what the cost is, you HAVE to buy it. Rather it’s $100 front row tickets, or a $25 tee shirt, it gets put in your cart. No matter the price, it’s always worth it. Even if you have to do extra chores, or pick up a few extra shifts.

3. If anybody from your school found your fan accounts, you'd probably cry.

Being a fan girl most likely means you have at least one fan account. Rather it’s a secret blog on Tumblr filled with GIFs of your favorite band member, or some fan-fictions you’ve written on your Wattpad account, if anyone from your school found out you’d probably cry. The thought of someone reading what you wrote about your favorite band member who’s not a fan girl would absolutely be torture.

4. Your family and friends tease you for being too "obsessed".

It’s always great having a nice time with your friends or family members until your phone buzzes, notifying you that your favorite band member posted a photo or tweeted. You instantly get teased for being too obsessed with them. They look at you like you’re crazy. They won’t ever understand the feeling of seeing that selfie your favorite posted.

5. You definitely wouldn't have the friends you have now if you weren't a fan girl.

Not all your friends are fan girls, but the ones who are mean the most to you. If you didn’t have them, you wouldn't have anybody to go to concerts with. You wouldn’t have anybody to stay up until three in the morning with you watching countless interviews, or just talking about how much you love your favorite band member. You’d be totally lost without your fan-girl friends.

6. The music means just as much to you as the members.

You love the members a lot, but sometimes the music speaks the words they fail to say. The music is something that will always connect to you on a different level. The bond you have with it is indescribable, and will always be something that gives you comfort like nothing else can. Without the music they provide, you’d be a totally different person.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
