We've all said it and if we haven't said it we've sure thought it at one point, "I can't wait to grow up and finally be able to do what I want". From an early age most of us think that being an adult is one of the greatest things in the world and while growing up does have it's perks, here are some things I wish I would've realized and been a little more grateful for when I was younger.
1. Naps.
Whether it was falling asleep after a long, hard day of being outside or because I ate a lot of food and was tired, a nap was always there to fix that. As I've grown up some I've realized that between everything life throw at you, most days a nap isn't in the question.
2. Food.
The fact that I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted without a care in the world still amazes me. As I've grown older however, my metabolism has seemed to unfortunately slow down just a little bit. This means I actually have to workout and eat healthy foods, ugh (just kidding, I promise I enjoy both).
3. When the only responsibility you had was remembering to brush your teeth twice a day.
Yeah. Uh... can I go back to those days or is it too late..? These days, I find myself running what seems like a million errands a week. The struggle of keeping my head on straight is insanely real and I'm just now entering adulthood. Someone send help.
4. Not having a care in the world.
From what you were wearing to what people thought about you to showing your emotions to eating food- you just didn't care. And it was great and life especially was. It was just you, the world and that smile on your face. All you cared about was being happy and having fun.
5. When arts and crafts was the actual lesson plan for the day... or week.
I remember making tons of arts and crafts from Kindergarten up until about second or third grade. It didn't matter what the actual lesson was, it could have been learning your numbers, abcs, animals, etc.- there was always an arts and crafts part of the 'lesson' and it was amazing.
6. The never ending energy.
Two questions: How and why?? How did I have so much energy as a kid and why does it seem like I have hardly any as an adult especially considering the fact that I need all that energy a lot more now than I did when I was younger.
