I've had the same group of best friends since I was two years old. They lived five minutes away from me for my entire life, so of course, I never missed a birthday. That is, until this year, when 2/5 of my best friends moved 500+ miles away. Birthdays have always been a big deal for us: on my 16th birthday, they decorated my bedroom with 16 balloons and pictures of us attached to the strings, along with a bunch of cute little presents attached to the bottoms. Because birthdays were always kind of our thing, being apart from them sucks, even more, any time a birthday comes up. So this year, we've had to get kind of creative with the birthday presents/surprises. Here are some ideas what to do for your long-distance best friend on their birthday!

1. Send them flowers.

If your BFF is one for the sentimental, send them a beautiful bouquet of flowers! It'll brighten their day and their space, and they'll probably last beyond their birthday.

2. Find a local bakery that delivers and send them a birthday treat!

My friends and I sent my friend Macaul a small cake for her birthday this year. Between the four of us, it was about $10 each person, and it made her so happy! Buy your BFF their favorite kind of cupcake, or the kind of cookies you made at a sleepover that one time six years ago. Either way, it'll make their day, guaranteed.

3. Send them a care package.

If you have a little bit of time before the big day, send your friend a care package of their favorite snacks, or little bits that remind them of home! There are hundreds of ideas on Pinterest. Boxes for mailing are available at Target, Office Depot, and most stores of the like. If making your own care package seems like too much work, there are thousands on Amazon, or check out https://theconfettipost.com/ for their care packages and birthdays in a box.

4. Mail them a piñata.

This is the cutest thing ever. https://pinatagrams.com has a bunch of different piñatas that come with candy already inside of them! Mail your friend a piñata to help them relive their childhood, and have it delivered directly to their dorm!

5. Send them a balloon bouquet.

Your BFF not a fan of flowers? Send them a super cute and festive arrangement of balloons! Because is it really a birthday without balloons?

6. Send them a card.

Nothing beats the classic birthday card with a cute little note inside. It lets your best friend know you're thinking about them and that you love and miss them so much.

Being hundreds or thousands of miles away from your best friends sucks. But, until you can reunite with your BFF, these ideas can hold you over!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
