Dance Marathon at Florida State University

The time is officially here! Dance Marathon at Florida State University's annual Rally Week starts this Monday and is full of events for you to attend, while supporting Shands Children's Hospital and FSU College of Medicine's Pediatric Outreach Program. Before the week starts, there's six things you should know about Rally Week.

1. The First Annual DM Cook Off.

Monday night not only marks the first day of Rally Week, but it's also the first annual DM Cook Off! Students will be competing head to head making our miracle children's favorite dishes! Think "Chopped" but for the kids. Head to Union Green from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and sample some childhood classics for only $5! You can buy your tickets by donating to yourself through your Donor Drive account and putting the event in the comment section. If you don't have a fundraising account, you can sign up to make one or donate to a friend!

2. DM's Got Talent.

Another night of Rally Week, another new event! Tuesday night head to Moore Auditorium for DM's Got Talent. Dancers and fundraisers will be competing in an old fashioned talent show at 6:30. You can purchase your pre-sale tickets for $5 You can buy your tickets by donating to yourself through your Donor Drive account and putting the event in the comment section. If you don't have a fundraising account, you can sign up to make one or donate to a friend. You can also pay $7 at the door!

3. Celebration of Miracles.

In-between your commute head to Landis Green between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for the biggest birthday party on campus! Play games, get some party favors, and celebrate all of the miracles and birthdays we've made happen thanks to our incredible donors and fundraisers. This event is free and open to everyone!

4. FTKolor.

The coolest and most colorful event all year is happening on Thursday: FTKolor! Except, this event has gotten a revamp... it's at night, the paint is glow in the dark, and there's a DJ competition! Any and everyone should take part in this event at Heritage Grove. Pre-sale registration for this event is $15 which includes your commemorative white T-shirt (you know, for the paint to go on), glow sticks, and entrance into the event! Make sure to get your tickets early, but don't fret if you can't buy pre-sale, because registration will be available at the door for $20. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. and you can register here!

5. Dancer Appreciation Day.

The best way to end Rally Week is with free breakfast and some love to our dancers. Friday on Landis Greek all dancers are invited for some free as a token of our appreciation for all of their hard work throughout the year. Not only that, but Dancers will also get some other prizes, only if they're on Landis Green, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

6. It's all for the kids.

The reason we come together for Rally Week is to show that together, as a student body, we can be the difference between a life in a hospital and a shot at a real childhood. It's about providing research to find a cure and giving parents just an ounce of ease as they deal with one of the most traumatic experiences alongside their child. Let's rally to end pediatric illness and let's rally together to celebrate Dance Marathon at FSU's 23rd year!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
