Summer can be the best and worst time of the year. You're finally out of school, but you have all this time that you don't know always know what do with. Whether you're traveling to Milwaukee or have lived here your entire life, there are a few things to check out.
1. Visit a museum.
Whether it be the Harley-Davidson Museum, the Milwaukee Public Museum, Discovery World, the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum, Grohmann Museum, the Milwaukee Art Museum or any museum you stumble upon, you can't ever go wrong.
2. Cheer on a local sports team.
Head over to Miller Park and catch a foul ball at a Brewers Game. Also be sure to try the brats.
3. Grab a bite to eat.
No matter where you go in MKE, you can't go wrong with food. If you want something ethnic, check out Casablanca, Three Brothers or MOVIDA. If you want something a bit more American, check out AJ Bombers, Sobelmans or Oscar's. Or even check out the Milwaukee Public Market ... yum!
4. Grab something to drink.
If you're of age and wish to enjoy an alcoholic beverage, check out Water Street or Brady Street — the options are endless. If you want coffee, skip the Starbucks and head over to Colectivo, Rochambo, Stone Creek or any college campus coffee shop. (Marquette's Brew Bayou Coffee is to die for.)
5. Head to the beach.
Although I don't recommend swimming at Bradford Beach, there's lots to do there. With volleyball nets, yoga at sunset and many more options, you can find something to do there that you'll enjoy.
6. One word: Festivals.
There are so many festivals that occur throughout the city: Polish Fest, German Fest, Bastille Day, Festa Italiana, Irish Fest, the State Fair or the most popular, Summerfest. No matter which you choose to attend, you're in for a treat of good food and even better music.
Milwaukee is a hub of diversity and events, and no matter what season it is or what the weather is like, you will find a way to go out and have a good time.
