When I was little it seemed like the whole world revolved around what we were going to be when we grew up. I don't know how many times I heard about kids wanting to be firefighters, astronauts, and dog walkers, which I heard more often than you'd think. It's weird: we were confused by grown ups and thought they were no fun, but, at the same time, we couldn't wait to be them. I spent this Spring Break at school working, and it made me feel like a real adult...which wasn't nearly as fun as I always thought it'd be.
Working 9 to 5 will probably never be as great as the Rihanna song, of course, but with properly timed naps it can work.
Luckily I barely have bills while I'm still in school, but I'm still concerned for later. I can't even keep up with when Spotify's going to charge me and that's automatic. How am I supposed to have a house and pay for gas and heat and all that someday?
3. Taxes
What even are taxes? I know we all have to pay them and they're supposed to help the general public, but high school didn't teach me anything and neither did the week long orientation I had to suffer through at the beginning of college.
Having to take care of yourself will always be a struggle but it also makes me feel super accomplished when I do start feeling better, because that means I'm a semi-functional individual. Check out the 7 Stages to Being Sick in College!
5. Grocery shopping
I used to love following my parents around and begging for different kinds of cereal and junk food, but now shopping has become more of a chore than an adventure. I'm also too old to ride in shopping carts now which is a little devastating.
6. You don't feel any different
After all those years of waiting to become an adult, you'd think you'd feel a little different or special when you turn 18. Well nope, the adult world is full of man-children and women-children. Hey, at least none of us have to feel bad for being immature.
