All universities are unique; some are large, others are small, a few are known for sports, while still others are known for their academics. However, most small universities share a few traits.

1. You'll probably run into someone you know on your way to class.

With only a few thousand students, the odds are in your favor that you'll recognize somebody when you're walking around campus. And if you don't, it's easy to try and meet a few new people.

2. You can get anywhere on campus within 5 minutes.

Since small colleges don't have tens of thousands of students to accommodate, they typically don't have big sprawling campuses like larger public universities. It comes in handy when you oversleep your alarm.

3. Don't be surprised if there are only 10 people in your class.

With the exception of a few required freshman courses, most courses only have about 20 students. By the time you're a junior or senior, some classes may only have 5 or 10 students

4. Professors are easy to get to know.

Since most professors only have around a hundred or so students to teach in a given semester, they have the time to devote more attention to each student. Don't be afraid to go to your professor's office hours if you're confused by a topic.

5. You get really excited when someone's heard of your school before.

Without the big name recognition that most large state universities enjoy, much of the public hasn't heard of your school before. When someone has heard of your school before, you can't help but feel a little bit proud of your school.

6. It seems like everyone is involved with something.

Whether it's Greek life, a religious organization, or academic club, nearly everyone on campus is involved with something. It's the only way that small schools can offer all the activities they do.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
