It’s that time of the year - running from class to class to avoid the sloshing drops of water that leave your socks soggy and your hair soppy. It takes all the willpower in the world to avoid curling up on the couch in the fuzziest blanket around with hot chocolate in hand and the messiest bun plopped on top of your head. Essentially, something about the scene of rain, thunder, and lightning outside the window throws productivity outside with it.
I propose a new type of productivity that may not involve acing a test, but involves rediscovering relationships and rediscovering the little things that make life sweeter.
1. Write to an old friend.
Have we lost the art of snail mail? Somewhere between that text and this Snapchat, handwritten notes became a lost art. Add a personal touch to your messages, encouraging your friends and family members with words of affirmation.
2. Call your high school best friend, and your mom while you’re at it.
Call someone who isn’t expecting it, or call someone first. Catch up, ask for advice, and be thankful for the cool gift of friendship.
3. Build a fort.
The stack of blankets in the closet have been waiting for this moment - for their debut in an epic fort that covers the whole living room. If that doesn’t work, set up a tent and just camp indoors for s’more fun.
4. Be a host.
Invite people in. Make dinner, eat, laugh, and enjoy each other.
5. Crack open your Bible.
A rainy day is the perfect time to be reminded of the love of our awesome Creator. Rest in His comfort even on the stormiest of days.
