Show choir has been a huge part of my life the past four years. I have grown so much from it and I am very sad this will be my last year in it. I love show choir and I always will. There are so many reasons why I enjoy it. These are some things only us show choir kids understand.

1. The long rehearsals.

We may be smiling in this picture, but boy our bodies were exhausted! This was after an eight hour or so rehearsal. Dancing, cleaning choreography and so much more over and over again. This is where all the hard work really happens. Rehearsals can be fun, but also just plain exhausting. I'm sure every show choir kid knows how these days go.

2. The love / hate relationship we have with costumes.

Sequins. Who doesn't love a cute sequined dress? Let me tell you something. Show choir girls dislike them 99 percent of the time. Why? Because the sequins scratch up our arms and underarms when we dance. Don't get me wrong, we love the glitz and glam and how it looks onstage, but most of the time, show choir dresses are just not that comfy! I'm sure every show choir gal can relate to this.

3. Bus rides and competitions.

Bus rides can are usually super fun, unless you are on the bus for eight hours. You become tired, cranky and ready to be home or at the hotel. Competitions are so exciting, yet extremely stressful. A competition day consists of waking up early, doing hair and makeup, warming up, performing, watching other show choirs, awards and so on. They are long days, but also my favorite days.

4. Slippery risers.

We all know what it feels like to see clean risers before we go on stage. We all kind of have a sinking feeling in our stomachs and kind of die a little on the inside. I'm kidding, but we definitely don't like it. Clean risers are probably one of the scariest things because that means they are slick. It is so easy to fall on the risers and it is quite painful, too.

5. The director.

Without the director, us show choir kids wouldn't be able to do what we do. Our director becomes a second mom or dad to us. We can't do this show choir thing without them. They are the ones that push us, takes time out of their days for us and so much more.

6. The love we have for each other.

In show choir, we are like a family. We all love each other at the end of the day no matter how much we can get on each other's nerves. We have our ups and downs, but we can't imagine our lives without each other. We are always there for each other no matter what.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
