As college students now, you probably look back a lot on your middle school days, and you think about some of the things you did. As you remember what those things were, you wonder to yourself, "How did I ever think that was acceptable?" or "I can't believe I did that!", and now you view those as really creepy because it's information that you shouldn't have known about another person without them ever sharing it with you or telling you. Or it was something that you don't typically see somebody do anymore now that you're in college.

1. Opening each other's locker

In middle school, everybody has their own locker and sometimes it's so crowded that somebody has to wait for another person to leave before they can use their own. In some cases, two students have lockers right next to each other, and in their periphery, they can see the other person's combination and they secretly remember it so they can open the other person's locker because they know the combination. My 6th grade locker combination was 4-36-10, and that was the year that it was most popular to do before it fizzled out to start 7th grade.

2. Passing notes in class

Although this was more common among the girls, it was an interesting way to gossip about a variety of things.

3. Attempting pranks

Whether it was a prank to just take another person's belongings and hide them, or just to draw an inappropriate picture on another person's school folder (or even their body), people did it while their prey was unaware just so they could bask in some dirty humor.

4. Placing gum on unsuspecting places in school

Most middle schools don't allow gum to be chewed in school and will provide a detention for it. But it still happens, and results in detention from time to time. But worst of all, those who chew gum will place it on the wall, under a desk in a classroom before the next class comes in, or worse yet, in someone's hair. Sadly, some people in college still do this.

5. Shut another student's locker right after they open it

This is textbook on what bullying is. I understand it might be done as a joke and just for the [bleep] and giggles, but it would get you a detention if you did it and were caught.

6. 'Pants-ing' another student

This is another example of a prank described in 3., but this one is worse, where if the attempt to 'pants' somebody succeeds, the victim is exposed and has to quickly recover before feeling embarrassed. I had this happen to myself and I remember the assistant principal saying, "It is not a good idea, and if you are caught you will face discipline" or something like that. All in all, yeah, not a great idea.

The fact of the matter is, DON'T do ANY these 6 things. They're incredibly foolish and when you get to college, you will absolutely know better than to do this because your choices will have a huge impact on how well you succeed at your university, and if you're not careful, you might have blown your only chance.

5 Things To Do That Are Better Than Writing A Paper

Don't waste your time trying to write that paper when there are so many more interesting things you could be doing.

Writing a paper is never fun and is rarely rewarding. The writer's block, the page requirement, be specific, but don’t summarize, make sure you fixed any grammatical errors, did you even use spellcheck? and analyze, analyze, analyze.

Papers can be a major pain. They take up so much time and effort that by the end of the process you hate yourself and you hate the professor for making life so difficult. Questions of your existence start roaming in your mind. Am I even cut out for college if I can’t write a single paper? Am I even capable of taking care of myself if I lack the energy to open my laptop and start typing?

I can barely remember back when I was the only child. Most would say it’s because it is extremely difficult to remember things as a toddler but I would say it's because I was bored until my sister came along. My mother always says how important the "sister bond" is and with every year that passes I realize how right she is. Instead of writing a novel about all of the wonderful things there are about having a sister I decided to list a few of them instead.

It is the time of our lives that we are beginning to enter the adult world and most of us, if not all of us, have no idea what we are doing. It's like starting a video game, but skipping the tutorial. We're all just running around aimlessly hoping we accidentally do something right that moves us along the right path. Now that graduation has just happened, or is right around the corner for some of us, it's time to start thinking about how we are going to take care of ourselves once we are on our own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good cup of coffee. My coffee always comes from Starbucks; I refuse to drink it from anywhere else. Over the years, it’s become one of my biggest addictions. College involves a whirlwind of emotions, whether it’s from the stress of an assignment (or twenty), or from fighting with your roommate. It can be overwhelming at times and it’s important to take a step a back and calmly think things over. Maybe gain some perspective.
