College is what you make of it, and I know that it can be quite confusing at times, but I'm here to let you know what it's really like. I can definitely say that I have a different perspective now that I'm actually in college.

6. There is free time but, at a cost.

College students have free time but, it is very much to a cost. They have to study two times more the amount of time they spend in class. In addition to that, they need to do homework, and make it on time to go to the dining hall for meals. Some may even choose to schedule in counseling, school events, the college writing center, tutoring, dates, parties, and extra-curricular activities. It is very stressful and overwhelming to be able to do so many things to help academically and socially, but it is all very worth it in the end.

5. There is a love/hate relationship with the dining hall.

College students often have a hate-love relationship with the dining hall as there are so many options but so little time. This is no different here at NDMU. The Dining Hall opens at 7 in the morning for breakfast, then ends at 6:30 for dinner. The Dining hall is also closed 9:30-11 AM, and 1:30-4:45 PM, which makes it difficult for students who may get hungry easily or have late or early classes that do not allow them to have time to catch the dining hall. The food, however, is always so delicious and rewarding to have after a long day of work. Notre Dame students truly enjoy the french toast and pancakes for breakfast, fries for lunch, and the delicious pastas and garlic bread sticks for dinner.

4. College students truly miss their families and friend.

College students truly miss their families and friends, especially the ones out of state and international. They miss being able to be with them and joke with them whenever they wished. Some college students have cried over missing their families and some have desperately wished to be with their families during very important times. Seeing your family again makes it so much better to be able to get through your week.

3. College students find great friends and amazing lovers.

College students are able to find amazing lovers and friends who may stay in their lives forever. In my own personal experience, I was able to find people I can trust, and a lover who treats me like a princess. I can confide in them and also be able to help them when they need me. I am thankful to have them in my life and I know other college students feel the same as I do.

2. Some college students have learned more about forgiveness and hope.

Some college students may go through a difficult experience with friends, roommates,or other people in their lives. However, they will learn how to forgive and how to hope for a better experience. I have learned how to forgive those who wronged me before college and in college, and how to hope for the best for myself and for them. Once you learn how to forgive those who harmed you and also hope for the best for them, a whole new world opens up for you.

1. All college students will grow into who they are supposed to be.

All college students will learn who they are and grow into who they want and are supposed to be. You continuously learn in college and you are always grateful by the end of the night. If you are going through something difficult, just know that you are not alone and that it will get better over time. If you are having a great time, enjoy it all! College will not last so pay attention to every moment and all that you do. Once you get older, it will be all that you will wish to think about.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
