I was always too picky, and I rarely let my guard down. I chased after the wrong guys, who made me feel like I wasn’t worthy enough to be with them. I questioned my worth, and every single time I fell for someone, my heart got crushed. I hardly dated much, and I was happy with being independent. My heart became so happy every time my best friends found a man who treated them right. I’ve always been happier for other people than myself.

We don’t always know why some people meet “the one” at fifteen, and some people are single for years until the right one comes along. The only answer that I have for you, is GOD. His timing is truly different than ours. His timing is the best, even when we may not think so at first.

To be completely honest, for the last three years, I felt as though I had lost all hope with love. I started to believe I would never find a relationship like my parents or grandparents. I let my mind become fixed on society, rather than the most important thing…GOD. Just when we feel like we have lost all hope on something, he opens up another door for us. Even though it might not always be our number one choice, it is always the best choice. He promises bigger things than we have planned for ourselves.

As I’ve aged and matured, I’ve taken notice to things that are blessed by GOD and things that are not. A few months ago, I met the most amazing and Godly man that I ever came across my age. I never thought that I would meet someone like him, ever. I especially NEVER ever dreamed of meeting a guy here at my college. Sometimes we meet someone at what feels like the worst time, but sometimes God leads them to us when he feels like it is the best time.

When you truly meet a man that is led by God, this is how you will know.

1. He makes you feel alive

Throughout difficult times in our lives, we sometimes feel numb and feel like we are going through the motions. The right man will be able to make you feel so happy and alive, no matter what. He will make your heart feel whole again, and make you see life from a different perspective.

2. He is your safe haven

Many people may brighten your darkest days, but there is something about his presence or his positive text messages that make you feel happy. He is your safe haven, the person that makes you feel like everything is going to be okay.

3. He is kind to everyone around him

You want to be so proud to call him your man. It is one of the best feelings that you could ever have. The way he treats other people (and you of course) shows a lot about his character and the type of person that he is.

4. He doesn't look for anything in return

Let me tell ya ladies... Prince charming IS out there. I never really felt as though I was a "lucky" person. I trust in the Lord with all my heart, and I try to be the best person that I can be, but I didn't always feel like things (men especially) seemed to go the way I wanted. The right man will leave you speechless. It is the little things that he does to make you happy, while he doesn't even think about getting anything in return.

5. He speaks from his heart

You can tell when men just feed you lines that you want to hear. You can tell when a man speaks from his soul and tells everyone he knows about you. A real man will not be afraid to tell the world how he feels about you. This is what you deserve, so remember that.

6. He makes you Better

I've always been given this advice, about how the person you are with should make you better. It hasn't taken me a while to actually understand what this truly meant. The right person will help to make you the very best version of yourself. The right person will help you to know your worth. And the right person will make your faith stronger.

We don't always know what the future holds, but I do know that when you meet a rare man, he deserves recognition, and he deserves the very best.

Thank you to the man that changed it all for me, you know who you are.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
