7 Things I'm Looking Forward To This Year At Fairfield University

Last week marked the start of my sophomore year at Fairfield University. I'm so excited to be back at one of my favorite places, with some of my favorite people. This year is going to be filled with new adventures, new memories and new places.

As I start my year, there are so many things that I am looking forward to experiencing at Fairfield this year!

1. The new dining hall

I missed my friends from Fairfield so much over the summer. It was so sad being away from them because we spend a lot of time together at school. Being reunited was one of the best feelings ever. I'm so excited to spend time with them and create new memories this year. We are also all living together in the same building, so it makes me so happy to have them only live a few feet away.

3. My room

I absolutely love my room this year; living in Loyola is going to be so great! It's known to be a small, close-knit community, which I'm so excited to be apart of. Also, my room is on the first floor (bless up, no stairs). It has an amazing view of the quad and my new theme and room decor this year is so cute. Also, my roomie is pretty great too. Love ya, Linds!

4. The new nursing building

I have waited for this building to be completed and ready! I'm so excited to be a part of the nursing program here at Fairfield, and to be able to take part in learning in the new building. The new building is so pretty and has all new, cool simulation activities for the nursing majors to experience.

5. Clinical

I'm also pretty excited for clinical to start this year. As a nursing major, I'm so excited to be able to have hands-on experience in a hospital. I can't wait to put on my stethoscope and my scrubs. Clinical is going to be filled with new experiences and adventures. I can't wait to share the experience with my friends and other nursing majors.

6. Being close to Downtown

I'm so excited to be close to Downtown Fairfield again. I can't wait to be able to shop through the boutiques. I can also indulge in my pedicures and manicures at the nail salons. Last, but certainly not least, I cannot wait to dine at the restaurants in Fairfield. I could go to Downtown every day and never have to repeat a restaurant. All I have to say is that you will find me in Downtown Fairfield weekly!

7. The beach

I'm also so happy to be close to the beach again. I can't wait to go hangout for the day with my friends. It's so nice to be able to be at school, but still get to have a beach day every once in a while. Fairfield Beach is also a great place to go for a walk or run; it's one of my favorite attractions at Fairfield.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
