Hermione Granger is a complete badass. I remember watching Harry Potter from the time I was in first grade. I ALWAYS wanted to be like Hermione. SO, here are a few things I've learned from this badass heroine.
1. "I'm a mudblood! Mudblood, and proud of it!" Remember to always be proud of your roots. You are who you are because of them! You should never let people's opinions or perceptions get you down. Take pride in who you are.
2. " Books! And cleverness! There are more important things- friendship and bravery" Sure, being a good student is important, but having people you can rely on is even more important. Books will never be there for you like your best friends will be.
3.“Oh for heaven’s sake! Listen to me, all of you! You’ve got just as much right as wizards to be unhappy! You’ve got the right to wages and holidays and proper clothes, you don’t have to do everything you’re told — look at Dobby!” Stand up for those with no voice! It is so important that we help those who can't help themselves. It is important that we be compassionate and kind to everyone around us, especially the marginalized.
4.You-Know-Who’s only been back two months, and we’ve started fighting among ourselves. And the Sorting Hat’s warning was the same — stand together, be united." This is especially important since the presidential election. No matter what political side you are on, most of us agree that human rights are important. We can't change what happened, but we can definitely stand together against discrimination.
5. “One day, you’ll read Hogwarts, A History, and perhaps that will remind you that you can’t Apparate or Disapparate inside Hogwarts.”Reading is important. You never know when a book will come in handy. 'Nuff said.
6. “Quidditch! Is that all boys care about? Cormac hasn’t asked me one single question about myself, no, I’ve just been treated to ‘A Hundred Great Saves Made by Cormac McLaggen’ nonstop!”And finally, BOYS. If Hermione taught me anything about boys, it's that they need a helping hand every now and then.
