It's a sad day when your best friend leaves you to go have adventures and take all pass/fail classes. You may be jealous or wondering how to survive without her, but here are the things that inevitably happen when your best friend studies abroad.
1. Aggressively like all her photos.
I mean, she may meet some cool and cultured new best friend out there, so you have to let her know you still exist.
2. Go to text her when something funny/ridiculous/embarrassing happens to you... then realize she's out of the country.
Wifi is the worst abroad, not to mention the time difference. If she has an international plan, you've hit a gold mine.
3. You talk to people about your "long distance relationship."
Skype, Facebook Messenger, Whatsapp, and Tango become your best friend. No distance can separate your love for one another. You complain on a regular basis about missing her.
4. Put some sort of mushy goodbye post on social media.
Normally these are a mix of sounding like she's about to die ("I'm going to miss you more than anything in this world") and telling her to have so much fun until she actually dies.
5. Update her on every single detail about your life.
You wouldn't want her to be all culture shocked and out of the loop when she gets back to the States.
6. Make plans to visit her ASAP.
Spring break? At the end of the semester? Doesn't matter. You're there.
