1. Maryland Ensemble Theatre’s Fun Company: A Christmas Carol
Enjoy "A Christmas Carol" At the Weinberg center from December 16-18!
2. A night in Downtown Frederick
Downtown Frederick is a great place to spend time no matter what the season. But Christmas has to be one of the best. Trees lining the streets are decorated in Christmas lights. Christmas carols are being sung on what seems like every corner, and the general vibe of downtown screams Christmas. Take the time to spend an evening in downtown and if you weren’t already hyped for Christmas, you will be!
3. Mayne’s Tree Farm
This is a picture I took of this breathtaking place. If you’re looking for an authentic Christmas tree farm to pick out your family’s Christmas tree. Mayne’s Tree Farm is the place to go. Hop on a tractor-pulled wagon and set out to find your “Griswold family Christmas tree” … or your “Charlie Brown tree.”
4. Schifferstadt (Museums by Candlelight)
Everyone who lives in Frederick knows about the awesome Oktoberfest that Schifferstadt annually hosts, but Schifferstadt is also part of Historic Frederick’s Museums by Candlelight tours. On December 10, from 1-6 pm you can stop by to see Schifferstadt well decorated for the Christmas season!
5. Candlelight Tour of Historic Houses of Worship.
While on the subject of candlelight tours. On December 26 from 4-9 p.m. the historic church buildings in downtown Frederick will be opening their doors to the public. Frederick has been known as the City of Spires, and now you can get a first hand look at each one.
6. Horse-drawn Carriage Rides!
One of my fondest memories of Christmas time in Frederick was taking a tour of historic Frederick in a horse-drawn carriage. Carriage rides run through December 23 in the evenings and depart from a number of locations in the Downtown area. Make sure to try it out and be sure to bring lots of blankets too!
