Six Things Every Appalachian State Student Should Do Before They Leave

Are you even a student if you don't do these things?

Six Things Every Appalachian State Student Should Do Before They Leave

1. Go on hikes at the parkway.

Do you even go to App if you don't have a cliche' pic at Rough Ridge? But for real, we go to a school surrounded by the most beautiful views. You've truly wasted an opportunity if you never visit the Blue Ridge Parkway.

2. Discover King Street and all its glory.

I'm talking to you @Macadoo's, a.k.a the most dank cinnamon rolls you will ever eat in your life. King Street is just off campus so there is really no excuse not to explore what it has to offer. Mast General and Boone Belles are just a couple of the businesses that bring character to King St. and help give Boone that small town feel unlike anywhere else.

3. Go to a home game.

Even if you're not a football fan, or a fan of sports at all, it's a total necessity to attend a game at Kidd Brewer Stadium at least once in the 4 years you are here. Cheering on the 'Neers is one of the most memorable parts of being an App student.

4.Visit the "trailer bars".

Yes, Klondike, TApp, and Pnon are not the most glamorous bars, but they are definitely a part of the Appalachian State experience. If you're not into drinking, Klondike has some pretty amazing cheese fries.

5. Paint the Tunnel.

Let your inner Banksy shine and paint the tunnels at least once in your time at App. Tunnel Tuesdays are always cool to see, and it's crazy the next day when the tunnels are painted over yet again.

6. Comeback Shack.

Comeback Shack serves the food of the gods and it's only available in Boone. They also offer vegetarian options so there's something for everyone here. AND they give discounts when you show your App card.

Above all, make the most of your four (five if you need a victory lap) years at Appalachian State and make sure you don't look back at your college years wishing you would have done something.
