1. You don't have to have it all together.
Your twenties are a time to make mistakes and learn. It may seem like everyone else has their shit together, but I promise you, they don't. It's okay to feel like a mess.
2. It's okay to not know what you want to be when you "grow up".
People may put pressure on you to decide what you want to do with your life, but I urge you to take your time. I'm in my late twenties and went through all sorts of jobs before finally finding the right fit. Take your time and enjoy the experiences.
3. Don't shy away from what others will refer to as a wild or crazy phase.
There's the old saying that you're only young once, and it's true. Go have fun. When you're older I promise you'll be happy you did.
4. Don't get so busy that you forget to live.
It's really easy to get wrapped up in everything that you forget to enjoy your life. Put down that phone or laptop every now and again. Do something that makes you happy, truly happy, and remember how great life can be.
5. It's okay if you drift away from old friends.
As you get older your friendships will change. It's okay if all the sudden you aren't close to someone you were your entire lives. People will come and go. You'll make new friends and drift from old ones. Both are okay. The people who are supposed to be in your life will be. Trust that.
6. Don't feel like life is a competition.
Everybody does things at their own rate. Some people get married young or have kids young. Some do it when they get older, or not at all. Grow at your own pace. One of the biggest mistakes I made was moving out of my mom's house before I was really ready. But my best friend was going to be moving out, so I had to as well. In hindsight, I wish I would've waited.
