Thanksgiving break is the first significant break from education in my college experience. We will all have a week long vacation when most of us will return to our families. I have been waiting for this for several weeks, and have already made many plans to look forward to. Here is what I am most excited for this Thanksgiving break.
1) Seeing my family
It’s been months since I've seen my family, and I just can't wait any longer. I especially cannot wait to see my goddaughter, just born a couple of months before my college journey began. Hugging and kissing this little munchkin is what I look forward to most.
2) Food
I think I can speak for most that I miss the food from home. The delicious home-cooked meals with extra care from the cook is what I dream about every week. Don't get me wrong, Sodexo isn't terrible, but it is rarely good, which means the first thing I want to do when I'm home is enjoy an amazing plate of food.
3) Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. What makes this one special is the sense of community and genuine gratitude for each other. Thanksgiving dinner, where the whole family is sat around a table, having fun, yet sometimes heated conversations. That's what makes this holiday special; loving each other, but not through materials.
4) Thanksgiving Parade
It's always been a personal tradition of mine to wake up early and watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. It/s long, but every second of it is very entertaining. My favorite part is when Santa Claus closes the parade, getting everyone ready for Christmas, my favorite holiday of them all.
5) A Haircut
I miss my barber. I also love my hair, so my barber is very important to me. I haven't found a reliable person to cut my hair, which is frustrating because I live about 3 hours away. Every time I return home, I will make sure I won't leave back to college until my barber does wonders on my hair.
6) Less Responsibility
College isn't easy. Wes have to constantly be on top of our work, making sure we do the best we can; it gets stressful. However, for the next week, I look forward to just kick is back, relax, and enjoy the company of my loved ones.
