When it comes to fall, there's a lot to get excited about. The leaves are changing, clothing options get comfier, candy corn is available pretty much anywhere you go, and Halloween is approaching fast. If you love the spooky stuff and horror movies just aren't doing it for you anymore, it's time to take your courage to the next level. If you live in or around Morgantown and you think you're brave enough you need to check out the six places listed below!
1. Fright Farm
Location: Smithfield, PA Travel Time: 23 minutes
Fright Farm is approaching its' 28th year of operation and still going strong. If you want to ease into the scares, show up early and listen to live music, check out the vendors, and watch some horror movies. After that, it's off to the four haunted attractions. Start your spooks with Hayride of No Return where you'll pass whatever goes bump in the night through Rich Farms. Hallow Grounds will keep your heart pounding while you venture through the swamps and graveyards the creatures like to call home. As if the name itself wasn't already obvious, Frightmare Mansion won't welcome you with open arms. According to the Fright Farm website, "No longer is the estate run by human hands but is manipulated by the clawed, fanged, winged, and strange." Yikes! Just when you think you've escaped them, you'll be at the entrance of Terror Maze, and who knows what crazy beings are waiting for you in there.
2. Demon House
Location: Monongahela, PATravel Time: 59 minutes
Demon House is located on legitimately haunted grounds. Legend has it that a young widow named Carla built a mansion. During the process of building it, workers found human remains. This resulted in over 70 unmarked graves being brought to light. Carla had a history of being a healer, and some people referred to her as a witch and she would draw clients in from as far as Scotland. Years later a man and his ill daughter showed up to the run down mansion, only to find something horrifying in the basement. A sherrif and his crew arrived to investigate, and his niece reports that the men never came out.
With the addition of offering an authentic horror experience, Demon House offers campfires, shelters in case it rains, and an out door movie theater to catch whatever scary movie is on!
3. Haunted Hillside
Location: Mt.Pleasant, PATravel Time: 1 hour and 6 minutes
A spooky attraction that starts and ends in a hayride, Haunted Hillside does have an interesting backstory to go with it. In 2014, two boys dug up an interesting item in a field that sent the land into a haunted frenzy. This effected the Farmer Family who reportedly turned into a chaotic group of "killbillies". The authorities tried to take them down, but this lead to a battle and the armed forces lost. What killed them though? One would assume the Farmer Family but it was an occult. In 2017, the occult is still strong and making sure that Haunted Hillside remains true to it's name: haunted.

4. Hundred Acres Manor Haunted House
Location: Bethel Park, PATravel Time: 1 hour and 22 minutes
According to Travel Channel themselves, Hundred Acres Manor Haunted House is reportedly, "one of America's scariest Halloween attractions." It offers a Haunted Elevator, A Scary Haunted House referred to as "Torture Tank", a Voodoo Haunted House, an Alien Haunted House, a Halloween Haunted House, and a new attraction that offers a taste of haunted London. It spans over 1 mile and it's one of the scariest out there!
5. ScareHouse
Location: Pittsburgh, PATravel Time: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Another haunted attraction that has been mentioned by Travel Channel! ScareHouse's attractions aren't for the weak of heart. You can stroll through Infernal where ancient artifacts have brought together a band of demons you don't want to mess with, or check out Nocturnia 3-D where you'll be swept into your clown filled nightmares. If that's not scary enough for you, their newest addition is called the Sunset Lodge and it's a hotel fully occupied by serial killers. No? Still not scared? Well, they have an attraction called The Basement that might just do it for you. You have to be 18 to enter and you must sign a waiver before you go inside.
6. Wells Township Haunted House
Location: Brilliant, OHTravel Time: 1 hour and 45 minutes
History says that the building was constructed in 1836. The size of the building along with how close it was to the Ohio River made it a desirable spot to house dead bodies of soldiers through the Civil War. Throughout the years, thousands of bodies were stored in this building. It underwent many establishment changed, ranging from a general store to a furniture store. However, many employees that have worked in the building reported feeling an unsettling presence and strange noises. With a surely haunting history, this haunted house is guaranteed to scare you along with its' frightening array of characters!
