Being the short friend, I can tell you that short girls face some struggles. I mean, you've heard the joke, "You really have to hand it to short people because they probably can't reach it anyway." Here are some of the common struggles that the short friend has to deal with:
1. We can't reach anything high up
It's a real struggle because we always need people to grab things off shelves for us, put things away for us, and help us with those overhead projector issues we have during classes.
2. It's almost impossible to see any live shows because someone taller is always in front of you
Have you ever been to a concert, play, church service, etc. and had someone tall sit in front of you and block the entire stage? Yeah, me too. It's definitely a struggle.
3. Trying to find clothes the right length is insanely difficult
Trying to find clothes when you're below an average height is so difficult. When I try to buy pants, the bottom of the pants legs don't end before my shoes. Likewise, I can wear 3 inch wedged heels with a maxi dress and the dress will STILL touch the ground and hide my feet completely. There's no telling how many times I've tripped over my own clothing.
4. Speaking of fashion, have you ever tried walking in the rain with such long clothes on?!
Every time I wear jeans and have to walk to classes in the rain, one small puddle will soak my pants legs all the way up to my calves. Do any of you know this struggle? It may just be the worst.
5. When you're mad, no one takes it seriously
Face it, short people are too adorable when angry. What people don't realize is the shorter the girl, the larger the personality. We're typically pretty feisty and can use cuteness to our advantage. We are not to be underestimated. Don't mess with the mad short girl.
6. No one believes your age
People asking to see your ID when you try to see an R-rated movie at 20 years old is kind of aggravating. Also, there will always be those people who talk down to you because they think you're so much younger than you are. I still have people guess that I'm 15. It gets old.
There are many struggles related to height (or lack thereof), but I genuinely enjoy being the height I am. Tall or short, there will be struggles but always know you're beautiful and awesome and you're made perfectly the way you are.
