Christmas shopping is awesome! It is one of my favorite things to do. This year, I tried to find some alternative shopping methods. I wanted to find gifts that were more than just gifts. So, after some research, I came up with these 7 places that let you give-back, while still checking presents off of your list!

1. FASHIONABLE

This is an awesome organization that employs women to make really gorgeous products in many different countries! You can buy jewelry, home goods, and--my favorite--leather purses, pouches, and a lot more!

2. Local Lejos

This company finds traditional homemade goods and helps local artisans sell them! Each item sold goes toward something the creator needs. For example, there are some beautiful Akazi Bowls that help the creator pay for health insurance for their family!

3. Parker Clay

Parker Clay sells products out of Ethiopia. They partner with Women at Risk to help empower women in the commercial sex industry. They have so many cute things! A lot of it is made of leather from Ethiopia, which is even more awesome. You not only get to help women, but you can bring a piece of Ethiopia back to you!

4. Trades of Hope

This organization also employs local artisans. They have over 6,000 vendors in 16 countries! Their store has lots of jewelry, handbags, scarves, and decor! They also have a really cool section of their website called the Marketplace that allows small or artisans starting out to sell their products!

5.TOMS--apple watch bands

Not only do they make shoes, but they also have a program that sells apple watch bands. They have lots of cool colors and patterns. For each one sold, they provide one year of electricity by way of solar panels! This allows students to study longer, families to have heating and air, and many more things that we take for granted.

6. Unlock Hope

Ok. All of these organizations are AMAZING, but this one has the cutest T-shirts ever! This group fully funds a project called Think Humanity that helps in refugee camps. They have lots of products, but their T-shirts are my absolute favorite, and they have lots of options to pick from!

So, if you want an alternative to the normal megastore christmas shopping, check out these organizations! They are doing some pretty amazing things!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
