When snow is in the forecast, the best thing to do is bunker down and enjoy a snow day. Yes, you have the whole day to do nothing and enjoy your time, but a snow day also gives you plenty of time to be productive!

The first step for a successful snow day includes those tedious cleaning jobs that you have been avoiding for months. This includes moving all the small trinkets and furniture pieces and thoroughly dusting the surfaces of everything. Yes, this is gross and monotonous, but the end result is a sparkling clean home, or dorm, that you can be proud of.

Once you’re done dusting everything, step two consists of vacuuming. Vacuum all areas with either carpet or rug, and sweep any hard wood floors, laminate, or tile. Some vacuums have an extension that allows you to use them on hardwood floors or laminate floors. These work great when you live in a home with different types of flooring.

Step three is getting your bathroom spotless. Get down on your hands and knees and use that Clorox to disinfect, sparkle and shine that bathroom of yours. Once you’re finished, you will feel so accomplished and happy with yourself, and you will have a beautiful and clean bathroom to enjoy.

Step four includes rifling through old clothes and donating any items that are no longer needed. This is a great opportunity to actually remember what is in your closet and find “lost” articles of clothing that you either forgot you had or thought you lost.

If you really want to get your closet organized, step five includes re-arranging your clothes in color order. This makes it easier for you to pick out your outfit in the morning because you can match colors easily when they are more organized. I like to separate the darker tones into one section, and then separate the lighter more pastel colors into another section. Once they are separated it is easy to maintain, when you hang your clean clothes just put them in the color section where they belong.

Organizing clothes this way also helps you realize how many clothes you have of the same color, or what colors you have little of. I like to make sure I have a couple of shirts in every color, that way if I see a certain style in a magazine I have a similar article of clothing to replicate that style.

Step five gets a little dirty, but is definitely worth it. Cleaning out your refrigerator is disgusting, however, it needs to be done. You will find dried gunk, nasty liquid and old food you forgot about. Throw away all of that garbage and disinfect all the surfaces with a good all-purpose cleaner.

The last step for a successful snow day includes taking a nice long bath or shower if you don’t have a tub. Take a nice, long and relaxing bath and pamper yourself. Make sure your moisturize your whole body afterwards as well. I would also suggest giving yourself a nice manicure and pedicure. This will relax, rejuvenate and revitalize your mind and body.

Follow these six steps for a successful and productive snow day. Just because you have the day off doesn’t mean you have nothing to do. Be productive with your snow days and you will be pleasantly surprised with how accomplished and proud you will feel at the end of the day.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
