6 Starbucks Drinks To Try Before School

Summer is a time for pools, sun and ice cold drinks.

If you're anything like me, you're the typical college student on summer vacay that can usually be found at some sort of coffee shop, more often than not, Starbucks. That's where I find most of my inspiration as well, as I sip on a refreshing cool drink in my hand. However, now that summer is almost over, there's a few drinks I need to recommend you try before school starts.

1. Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino

This honestly comes in at the top of my list because hey, who doesn't love chocolate? Between the mocha syrup and yummy chocolate chips blended in, this is made for the chocolate lover. And if you're like me and watch the calories (sometimes), you can opt out of the mocha drizzle that comes on top and cut a few of those bad boys out without sacrificing the flavor.

2. Strawberry Acai Refresher

This one is great for anyone on the go, since it's not frozen and won't melt in five minutes in the summer heat. Its a sweet strawberry drink over ice with just a hint of tartness that mellows it out, and the real strawberries give it a fresh refreshing taste.

3. Iced Caramel Macchiato

Caramel, milk, and espresso? Who could say no to this sweet treat. Ask for one with coconut milk for a tropical zest, or extra caramel if you're like me and can't get enough of it. This one is always my top photographed drink (basic, I know) because it layers perfectly in the cup and looks super pretty, but not too pretty to drink!

4. Vanilla Bean Frappuccino

With this drink, the possibilities are endless. Since its a plain vanilla drink (it tastes like a milkshake!), you can customize it to your heart's desire. Ask for one with a pump or two of raspberry syrup for a yummy drink, or ask for a pump of white mocha syrup and blackberries blended in (seasonal).

5. Mocha Frappuccino

Yeah yeah, another frappuccino, but trust me, these frozen drinks are truly worth it. Chocolate on chocolate makes this one amazing. This is a great customizing one as well; ask to have a banana blended in for a chocolate covered banana taste, caramel for a sweet swirl, or raspberry syrup for another chocolate covered fruit taste, you literally can't go wrong.

6. S'mores Frappuccino

To save the best for last, one of the best summer drinks has to be listed, because what's summer without a s'more? Marshmallow whipped cream both in the cup and on top, graham cracker crumbles on top, and Chocolate swirls make this one a reminiscent of a warm summer night around the campfire. Get it quick though, it's only available until the end of August!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
