I don't know about you, but whenever stuff goes wrong in my life, my first outlet is music. Lately I've been finding a lot of solace in music, so here are 5 songs to listen to when you're feeling down and, for some reason, want to make it worse, and one to make things a little better.
1. Rivers and Roads -- The Head and the Heart
This song is sure to make you miss anyone who's left your life. With nothing but a few simple chords to back the vocals it will put you in the mood to call up that friend you've really been missing.
2. The Freshmen -- The Verve Pipe
In the mood to think about your past? Maybe even realize that life sucks and the world is an awful place? This song will help with that. It sets a very somber tone of reflection while still providing a nice soft rock vibe with some distorted guitar and raspy vocals.
3. Vor i Vaglaskogi -- Kaleo
This song definitely isn't for everyone because it's not english, but the emotion in his voice really sells it. It's not very often I come across a song I will never understand the lyrics to that still manages to pull pain up from the parts of my soul I'd rather keep in the dark, so if you're just looking to be sad and feel like someone out there relates; this is your song.
4. I Should've Known -- Foo Fighters
Did you convince yourself your relationship wasn't doomed just long enough for your partner to end it? Don't worry, Dave Grohl knows your pain. With a chorus that repeats "No, I cannot forgive you yet. You leave my heart in debt. One thing is for certain, as I'm standing here, I should've known." This song is not only bound to drudge up all the lovely feelings of a break up, but it's harder style will let you scream it at your steering wheel or your pillow instead of letting it stew in your brain.
5. Where The Skies Are Blue -- The Lumineers
This song tells the classic tale of the love struck fool and the one who got away or, from the sounds of it, keeps getting away. If you're missing someone and you really wish they'd come back to you then this song should express how you feel pretty well.
6. Automobile -- Kaleo
I wanted to try to avoid repeating artists but since his last one was in a different language I'll make an exception. This song isn't actually a sad song either; it's simply a man dreaming about leaving his troubles behind him and falling in love with a car. It makes the list because I think a lot of people would like to indulge that dream.(Maybe just for a few days, but still.)
