We all remember Jonathan Papelbon performing his Irish jig to this iconic song while playing for the Boston Redsox. This 2005 Irish rock song is heard all around the Bay State. While 22% of the Massachusetts population is Irish, it is no wonder the song has become so popular. However, if you are not as lucky to be Irish, but if have heard this song, then you are lucky enough.
3. "Dirty Water" by The Standells
Released in 1965, the notorious Charles River would not be classified as the cleanest of water sources. Well The Standells knew the people of Massachusetts loved that dirty water anyways. The song is now a hit among sports fans and with almost everyone who knows how to create a playlist in the car for a trip to Boston.
4. "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond
Perhaps the most iconic song of the Boston Red Sox is this 1969 tune. The song has even inspired a Boston restaurant to copy the name. Not to mention, the song is played every Boston Red Sox game just before the bottom of the 8th inning. The song is really a sight to see when you have thousands of fans all cheering. Alright you Patriots fans, you have surely heard this song once or twice, Released in 2009, the Patriots adopted this Bon Jovi instant classic as their touchdown song. Now every time the Patriots score, whether it be sitting in your living room or at Gillette Stadium, the song can be heard even over those musket shots in the end zone.
6. "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie
Played at three different times every Thanksgiving by I-95 radio, this song has become a tradition among families. This 18-minute song written about a crazy Thanksgiving story, released in 1967, sure has a catchy tune to it. If you have never heard the song for yourself, clearly you are not from Massachusetts.
