6 Single Serving Desserts to Make You Feel a Little Less Lonely this Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is my favorite and least favorite holiday all rolled into one. I have the biggestsweet tooth of anyone I know, so a holiday that promotes endless chocolate is my kind of holiday. However, a holiday that promotes cute “coupley” activities is not my type of holiday. As a single college student the last thing I need is to feel lonely on Valentines Day. For all my sweet tooth singles out there, here are six single serve desserts to make you feel less lonely this Valentine’s Day.

1. Oreo Mug Cake

Chocolate Donut Nutella Coffee Ice Cream Sandwich

If you're out and about this V-Day stop by your supermarket and pick up a donut, Nutella, and a pint of Ben & Jerry's. This dessert is SUPER easy, just cut the donut in half, schmear the Nutella onto the donut, and add ice cream. If you're not into coffee ice cream I recommend trying Ben & Jerry's Vanilla Toffee Bar Crunch or Milk and Cookies.

3. Brownie Batter Breakfast Bake

Brownies for breakfast? If you're vegan, gluten-free, or just trying to eat clean this breakfast bake is a great way to get your chocolate fix without all the added sugar and calories.

4. Chocolate Caramel Lava Cakes

If you're up for a bit of a challenge this dessert is definitely worth making. Fair warning: this recipe yields four servings so roundup a couple of friends (or don't I'm not judging).

5. Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

Chocolate chip cookies are a classic which makes this chocolate chip skillet cookie for one an über classic. Top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream when it's fresh out of the oven for the most "aesthetically pleasing" Instagram photo.

6. Pint of Ice Cream

If you're pressed for time or just lazy, a simple pint of ice cream will do the job. Grab your favorite pint and cozy into bed with Netflix and I promise you won't be disappointed.

And remember, just because you're single doesn't mean you can't treat yourself on Valentine's Day, or any day for that matter.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
