6 Signs You Are A Grandma Trapped Inside A College Student

I just don't like going out and that's okay.

I have always been more of a homebody, but it was not until recently that I noticed how much of a homebody I really am. I like to be familiar with what I am surrounding myself with and who I interact with. Believe me, I can talk to anyone and everyone no matter where I am; I am an extrovert, through and through. I used to really struggle with alone time. I felt that I always had to be doing something otherwise I would be missing out. I am frequently referred to as a grandma. I enjoy going to the movies, out to dinner, concerts, or to big social gatherings but I think I prefer the comforts of being a "grandma" a little more often.

1. I watch the Game Show Network for hours at a time.

I don't just mean two episodes of Family Feud, I'm talking that it's all that is ever on my TV. When I'm lounging around the house on the weekend, it's quite possible that I had the Game Show Network on my TV for six hours. I probably didn't watch it that whole time but every time I could catch a few minutes of it, I'm sure I could pick up exactly where they were in the game show, because I watch a lot of game shows.

2. I enjoy coloring in coloring books more than children.

My grandma and I bond by coloring in our adult coloring books. I also color in my coloring book while watching the Game Show Network. I can combine two of my favorite activities, what could be better?

3. I sometimes go to bed before 9 p.m.

I always used to make fun of my parents and grandparents for this but now I understand. It's so refreshing to wake up early in the morning and actually feel refreshed because you went to bed so early. This is incredibly hard to do in college because most nights, I haven't even had time to sit down and look at my homework but every chance that I get to go to bed early, I do.

4. I like to bake.

I'm not going to claim that I'm good at baking but I love to do it. I don't love cleaning up after I'm done as much. From cookies to banana bread, I just get excited when I think about the different things I can bake!

5. I like to coupon.

Okay, I think like was an inaccurate word for this. I LOVE to coupon. I think this is something that my grandma actually taught me. I find great excitement in saving money.

6. I catch myself calling my friends "honey" too often.

This originally started because I work with children but it later developed into me calling my friends this and it just kind of stuck.

So to conclude, while my friends are going out and having fun, I'm having fun doing my "grandma" things. Even as an extrovert being a homebody is one of my favorite things to do because even though I love to talk; I need my time to relax.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
