6 Relatable Long-Distance Friendship Experiences

Long-distance relationships are somehow all universal

With the kinds of technology available to us today, long distance relationships seem more and more common. However, most people only think of romantic relationships when long-distance comes to mind, even though many people have long distance friendships. So here are 6 relatable things for all of you out there with long distance friendships.

  1. Time zones

Whether it’s you being bitter towards a friend for being in an earlier time zone so they don’t have to stay up to ungodly hours of the morning to watch your shared favorite tv show, or yelling at them to sleep because you’re the earlier one and they stayed up late to talk to you, anyone with a friend in a vastly different time zone can attest that sleep is for the weak—and less important than your friendship.

  1. Memes

It isn't always easy to catch your friends when they’re available or awake. Luckily, memes never decay, so you can send them off and they’ll still be funny when your friend sees them six hours later.

  1. Meetups

When you live 8+ hours away from each other, it’s not often you get to meet in person. When the chance presents itself, you do whatever it takes to finally see your friend in person.

  1. Schedules

Real life friends eat together, shop together, watch movies together, and so-on. It’s not any different with a long distance friendship, except it takes a lot more rearranging of schedules to get everyone on the same page.

  1. Time together

Time on call is precious, time in real life is more so. What better way to keep the friendship flame burning than to vlog your time together. That way you can re-experience it as many times as you want, especially helpful when you’re missing each other.

  1. Online friends are just as important as real life ones

Just because you interact mostly through a screen doesn’t mean that your friendship is any less valid. Most of my closest friendships are long distance, and I feel the same affection for each of them as I do towards the people I see every day. We’re still a squad and we have each other’s backs because that’s what friendship is really about.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
