"The Shack" is a movie about a man who spends a few days at, you guessed it, a shack. This movie is not based off of a true story, but it deals with so many things that can be applied to every day life. No spoilers, but this movie was so moving. If you appreciate a good metaphor, like to cry a lot or can relate to any of these points, then you need go watch "The Shack" right now!
1. If you have ever suffered loss.
We have all heard the age old question, "why do bad things happen to good people?" It's often hard for people to believe in the sovereignty and goodness of God when the world is filled with so much evil. "The Shack" attempts to answer this question and make the reasoning behind why bad things happen as clear as possible. This movie is centered around loss and how the main character deals with it.
2. If the idea of the Trinity confuses you.
The way that the characters of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are presented in a really interesting and unique way. If you have ever been confused by the fact that God is three in one, this movie could possibly help make it easier to understand.
3. If you have trouble trusting God.
Trusting God isn't always easy. The Shack portrays an honest example of this with a main character who struggles with trusting and believing in God's goodness. When bad things happen, it makes it harder to trust that God is really with us. In this movie, we get a small glimpse of things from "God's" point of view.
4. If you like Octavia Spencer.
I mean, who doesn't? She is an amazing actress and I'm pretty sure she has strange powers and can make anyone cry on demand.
5. If you've read the book.
This is one of the rare cases of movies that are a lot like the book. I honestly thought that "The Shack" would be a difficult book to make into a movie, but they executed it rather well. I didn't leave the movie upset because I didn't think it did the book justice. I was extremely pleased with the transition.
6. If you struggle with forgiving others.
The whole plot of this movie is centered around the fact that the main character can't forgive someone...and because he can't forgive, he can't move on. We get to see his walk through the trials of forgiving those who have wronged you and it is extremely moving.
