6 Reasons Why You Should Always Be Happy

“Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.” Stacey Charter

6 Reasons Why You Should Always Be Happy

Being known as a party pooper is not something to be proud of. Being a negative Nancy doesn’t help you or anyone else live a positive life. Somedays are hard, stress is common for a large majority of people. Regardless, there are always reasons why you should smile every day. Being a happy and approachable person can help do so many positive things in your life for example with friends and careers. A personable person who gives off good energy makes people enjoy your presence and will make them want you around them more often. Networking is always important and so is having a healthy social life.

1. It Decreases Stress Levels

Happiness is a choice and if you choose to be happy, you’ll be less stressed. Happiness and stress are pretty close to being opposites. Choosing to be happy and working towards happiness will make you less stressed, less tired and so much more.

2. Clear Skin

Stress keeps you up at night, stress messes with your hormones and stress obviously makes you unhappy. All of these can cause zits, acne, the whole nine yards. Being happy, stress-free and positive can help either control or eliminate this problem and help you have clear skin in no time! Pair a carefree lifestyle with a good facial route and lots of water and your skin should visibly improve very quickly.

3. You Are Alive

There are people who are going to always have it better than you and people who will always have it worse but every day someone doesn’t wake up the next day when they go to sleep. Many of you are alive and well and even if you’re not well you should find the happiness in the things that you can. Do not let an illness take over your life, still find ways to do the things that are important to you! The sun is shining, the world is spinning and you are one of the lucky ones to wake up and enjoy another day.

4. People Love You

Most of us have at least a friend, sibling, parent, aunt, grandparent, etc., who loves you to the moon and back. It should make you incredibly happy to know that at least one person values your existence and genuinely wants to see you and have you here on this planet.

5. You Make Other People Happy

Your happiness will give off an aura, a happy aura that will radiate to others. People will see you being sincerely happy and I’m sure that will make them smile, as well. Happiness is something that should be spread. Something as small as just smiling at each person you see every day can potentially make their day so much better.

6. Your Family

Whether it’s your chosen family or biological family, these are the people who will have your back 24/7. They are your lifeline. Having people like this in your life biological or not, should make you happy and definitely make me happy. Having an automatic support group and people in place to pick you up when you’re down is something so wonderful to have.

Life is too short. Being happy can only help you. It’s a choice that I made and I believe everyone should make as well. Network, make new friends, stay in touch with old friends, explore, live life everyday like it’s going to be your last. Live life to the fullest! Happiness is something I hope everyone eventually finds and I hope to spread good vibes everywhere I go. I try my best to bring a happy attitude everywhere I go, I think everyone should start bringing one with them, too. Let the bad vibes go.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
