6 Reasons Why I Want To Be Like Jessica Day

After binge watching New Girl in between homework assignments, I realized that Jessica Day has some amazing qualities and characteristics that I want to portray myself. Not only is she quirky and fun, she's sweet, caring and many more!

1. She accepts who she is.

From the very first episode you can tell that Jess is fun, weird, and quirky. Though she runs into some conflict with people who hate her personality, Jess never changes for anyone. Her personality is the reason why she is so lovable and why she's an all-around great person.

2. She is passionate.

I would need three hands to count all of the things that Jess is passionate about. She cares so deeply about a lot of things, which is why she is so passionate. She fights for her students, for herself, for love, and much more.

3. She is honest.

Jess can be brutally honest, but sometimes it is necessary. There isn't any playing around with Jess, people know where they stand with her and she demands that she knows where she stands with them too.

4. She cares about others.

Jess cares deeply for others, whether it is her friends, family, students, or strangers she cares for them with her whole heart. Her good intentions and love towards others is truly inspiring.

5. She is a loyal friend.

The reason Jess and her friends are considered "friendship goals" is because they all have each other's back (literally and figuratively). Jess embodies the word loyal and she will, and has, fought for her friends. It's easy to see that Jess will do anything for those she cares about.

6. She doesn't give up on love and loves wholeheartedly.

Jess goes after what she wants, even if it means putting herself out there. Also, throughout the seasons she gets burned by a few guys really badly, but she keeps an optimistic mind about love the entire time. It takes her a little while to figure out what she wants, but she eventually does and she fights for it.

Overall, Jess is an inspiring TV character that embodies many characteristics that we should all try to portray! Jess is easy to fall in love with because of her quirky personality and her caring passion towards other, she is one to look up to.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
