6 Reasons Why Texans Love Fall

We can't help falling in love with fall.

If you're from Texas then you know how drastic the season changes can be. Heck, the temperature on Monday could be 98 degrees and somehow drop to 80 by Wednesday. I think many of us can agree that the transition from summer to fall is the easiest season change throughout Texas. Summer is great and all, but there's just some things about fall that us Texans love.

1. The temperature drop

We all know how hot it gets in Texas. Fall means that you can go outdoors for longer than ten minutes without sunburning. And don't even get me started on awkward tan lines.

2. Football season

To many Texans the only thing that fall means is football season, and we take football very seriously. Even if you're not a huge football fan like me, it's still fun to go to local high school or college games. Fall wouldn't be the same without Friday night games.

3. No more mosquitoes

My favorite (and I'm sure many others' favorite) thing about fall is that all the mosquitoes die off. Finally, I can go outside in peace without fighting off the swarms of these pesky blood-sucking creatures.

4. The fair

The fair only comes around once a year, so it's a big deal. We love it for its rides, games, and live music, but fall just makes any outside activity like the fair so much more bearable.

5. The holidays are near

Fall is the beginning of the holiday season, and we all know that the holidays mean family, food, and good times. We Texans have strong love for our families and love the holidays because it brings us all together. Fall just increases our anticipation for the rest of the holiday season.

6. The food

Pecan pie, turkey, corn bread, and really anything made on the grill.

Let's face it, we all use "but it's the holidays" as an excuse for over eating. It's OK though! Texans can't help that our food is so good. It isn't fall if you don't eat some comfort food every now and then.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
