So I watch a lot of "Modern Family." I've seen almost every episode of the seven-season series, and Phil Dunphy has without a doubt become my favorite character. For those of you who don't watch the show, Phil is a happy-go-lucky realtor, magic enthusiast, and patriarch of the Dunphy household. Here are six reasons why Phil is the best television character around.

1. He keeps his word.

If Phil Dunphy makes you a promise, he keeps it. He doesn't back down from a challenge, and he always tries his absolute best to keep his word. He dedicates himself to every cause he involves himself with, and I admire that a lot about him.

2. He's got killer dance moves.

Okay, this one is a bit sarcastic. But the handful of times he's busted out his dance moves on the show, I've laughed hysterically. Phil has great rhythm, but his execution falls a little flat. I find it really funny.

3. He's protective of his family.

Phil is married to a beautiful woman and the father of two teenage girls; he's got PLENTY to be protective over. He may be a generally easy-going person, but when it comes to protecting his family, Phil doesn't mess around.

4. He's a "Harry Potter" nerd.

This one doesn't require much of an explanation. He loves "Harry Potter." I love "Harry Potter." "Harry Potter" is pretty great.

5. He's confident.

Despite being dorky and not-so-suave, Phil is extremely comfortable in his own skin, even if he seems weird to others sometimes. He's got the perfect amount of confidence!

6. He's just like all of us.

Phil Dunphy is a very cool dude, but he's only human. He goes through plenty of problems on the show, but he faces them with a smile. He's got issues and insecurities just like us, but he manages to push through with his trademark optimistic attitude.

So there you have it. Phil Dunphy is a great husband, dad, and a pretty stand-up guy all around. Check out "Modern Family" sometime and you'll learn all the other reasons why he's so great.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
