To Brittany and Bryan:

I don’t see either of you as just my siblings. The two of you are the best friends I could have ever asked for. Now, I know this is pretty basic of me to say, however, I wouldn’t trade either of you for the world.

Here are 6 of the reasons as to why the two of you are the best friends I was (and still am) blessed to have in my life.

1.) We know everything about each other

Whether it is something good or bad, we tell each other everything. There is no privacy between the three of us when it comes down to telling a good story.

2.) We have trust in one another

What even is a best friend or a sibling, without trust?

3.) We understand and are always there for each other

There has not been a time where any of us weren't there for the other. You are both two of the best listeners and understanders that I have ever met, and I am glad that we all have each other to go to at any time given.

4.) We share clothes

Back home, Brittany and I shared the same wardrobe. She would always be raiding my closet, and I would always be reading hers. With Bryan, I would constantly be going through his t-shirt drawer and taking them to wear myself. (Don’t tell him, but I brought some of them with me to school)

5.) We can talk for hours and never get bored

Before I left for school, we could just sit and either have a conversation together or just fool around and never get sick of each other. Now that I am living 230 miles away from the two of you, we talk on the phone multiple times a day. It could even be for hours and we won't even realize how long it has been since one of us had first called.

6.) But most importantly, because they are who they are

The bond that we have created and shared over the years, has proved how lucky I truly am to have both of you, Brittany and Bryan, as not only my siblings, but as my absolute, best friends. I love you both with all of my heart.

All my love,

Your best friend and sister, Macken

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
