6 Reasons Why I Love My College Friends

When I started my freshman year here at University at Albany I was nervous on whether I would make a close group of friends. I wondered if people would like me. I guess I had the first year jitters on making new friends. Looking back from freshman year to now, I know I could not have picked a better group of friends. I know after college our friendship will only become stronger. Here are some reasons I love my college friends:

1. Late night conversations about life.

I really got to form great bonds with my friends from 4 am conversations. You get to learn so much about one another. You see the similarities with one another. We laugh together and compare stories of our childhoods. Conversations are about making bonds and I cherish every single one of them.

2. Music Parties.

I got to hear different types of music. I really got to grow listening to my friends music. I learned not to judge until I hear the song. I learned to respect my friend's song choices as well eve if I didn't really like it. From EDM to R&B to Country, I know I can always count on a song to make my day.

3. They make you try new things.

The best thing about having great friends is that they make step out your comfort zone. They want what's best for you. They encourage you to make the right decisions. You get advice. You also begin to understand what you want out of life. They get to see you at your worst.

4. They see you at your worst.

There are moments that when were stressed over finals or have personal issues going on in our lives, our friends are always there. We can cry with them and not feel any judgement. We can be ourselves and tha'ts the beauty of friends at college they see you for every step of the way.

5. Ordering out could never be more fun.

I love ordering at midnight or later because it's a fun experience to sit down and eat take out with your college friends. You get to try one another's food. You also get to have good conversation or watch a movie. Food is a such a great conversation starter and you get to learn a lot.

6. You know they will be your friends for life.

It's my senior year and I have had mostly the same group of friends since freshman year. I know I will talk to them after college. I know I can rely on them for anything. They got my back and I will forever have theirs. College friends are something special. They know what you have been through. I can't wait to see where we go together later on in life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
