6 Reasons Why Life is Amazing

"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years." -Abraham Lincoln

1. You woke up today.

This is something that we don't even think about. We tend to think about the end of our lives in the third person as a way of coping with such a harsh reality. But in all honestly, if you hadn't had simply woken up, cringing at the thought of all those things you have to "adult" at today, you wouldn't be here. Cherish every moment.

2. You are loved.

Even when you feel alone, you are loved always. This is important, and I don't know how to stress this enough. You are loved.

3. You have the ability to change the world.

Whether by showing kindness to a stranger or discovering the cure for cancer and the perfect solution to alternative fuel, everything we do has an impact on this planet. It's the butterfly effect.

4. You can (and should) learn something new every day.

Your mind is so amazing that it can hold more knowledge than you could ever learn in a lifetime. So why not try to fill it with as much awesome info as you can? Better yet, pass your wisdom on to others. Knowledge is power, guys.

5. There are still good people out there.

This world we live in today is filled with so much hatred and judgment. We divide ourselves with hate, and some refuse to even take the time to understand why, and that is just plain silly when you think about it. However, there are still good people out there trying to fill this world with love and peace. And guess what, you can be one of those people. Just try to be a decent human being, please.

6. The sun rises, and the sun sets.

Have you ever stopped to smell the flowers? If you haven't, then let me tell you that you are missing out. We basically live in our phones now, but it is important to take some time to go outside and enjoy your planet. Notice how everything in nature is designed so perfectly to work together. Take a walk around the block. Go stargazing. Just take your earth in for the wonderful and vast place it is.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
