The Fans
Hockey fans known for their dedication, but also for being some of the nicest people out there. It doesn’t matter if it’s the season opener, or the last game of the playoffs—if their team is on the ice, fans in the stand cheer as though the world is ending. To them, its #allabouthecup.
Individuality
Just like every other human, hockey players are unique in their own way. Each skates and shoots in a different way, and handles each game in their own personal way. Not only does that make every game interesting, but the sport itself is centered around skating on a block of ice as quickly as one can to shoot a small rubber puck.
There’s truly no other sport like it, which is what makes hockey so fascinating. While the game is going on the ref doesn’t stop the game to wait for the players to reset their lines, or switch players out, it all happens in one continuous motion. Never allowing for a dull moment.
The Players Rock
It is a known fact that hockey players are a special type of breed, in that they are some of the nicest athletes around. Most hockey players are just like your best friends from back home, their goofballs who simply love playing hockey. They understand that the fans are what make playing this game so special, and don’t even let them forget that. Not only do they take the time out to meet with fans, and sign autographs but also make sure that every fan (even down to the littlest ones) feels appreciated.
They’re Also Smoking Hot
I got into hockey because for once I found a sport that didn’t bore me half to death by the end of the first inning, or quarter. Yet I soon found out that an added plus to my newfound love was that hockey players are some of the hottest humans on earth. They’re athletic, kind, and attractive—sign me up!
The Fights (don’t judge)
Of course you never want to see someone get injured but a little roughhousing between some players won’t end the world. Not only is hockey a fast paced sport, but should you get bored a little fight always grabs your attention. Yet what I find most interesting is that behind a lot of fights, is a tactic.
Sometimes a player simply gets upset, and reacts—but sometimes they pick a fight to specifically benefit the game or to protect a better player on their team. My number one lesson is not to take everything at face value, especially concerning hockey.
The Athleticism
There are many days when I can barely get myself from point a to point b without stumbling, or tripping—yet hockey players breeze on a sheet of ice without a single problem. If you’ve ever taken the time to truly analyze hockey you would realize how the players or some of the best athletes in the world. They are expected to skate and aim to the best of their ability, navigate through other players all while blocking shots and taking hits. Not to mention that some of the top players are shooting slap shots that can average 80 miles per hour. Imagine blocking one of those?
