I think we can all agree on the fact that October 31st is definitely one of the most anticipated days of the year; for any age, honestly. I mean nonetheless, we get to dress up as whatever our little hearts desire to be; how does it get any better than that?
However, as I've been in college celebrating Halloween for the past 4 years, all I have come to realize each time is that the holiday was immensely more exciting when I was younger.
Don't get me wrong, it's still extremely fun for me! There's just some things I find myself realizing that I miss each year.
1. Trick-or-Treating
The most obvious thing. I seriously miss having is my little pumpkin basket and going from house to house getting handfuls of candy, then coming home and dumping it all out and seeing all of what you got2. Actually being warm in your costume
Typical college Halloween costumes will leave you freezing your booty off; especially for girls. If I could go back to the days where I was dressed in something that was extremely cozy and fuzzy, I totally would. I don't think I could pull it off too well now though.
3. Dressing up to look scary, not sexy
Back in the day, looking as scary as possible and having an abundance of face makeup on was the really cool thing to do. If we were to do that now, we'd probably get some really weird looks from people.
4. When Halloween parties were about showing off your costumes and candy, not drinking
I can remember parties back in elementary school vividly; everyone would bring in candy to share with the class while being dressed in their super awesome costumes; basically just basking in our innocence without even realizing it. Now, we just put on our costumes and start drinking. Honestly so much less exciting once you think really about it.
5. Not having to worry about your physique in your costume
Before Halloween approaches, most of us try to immediately start eating healthier and exercising like crazy; all just to look good in our costumes. It's so much effort all put in for one day. When we were younger, shape or size was never a factor.
6. Believing in the Great Pumpkin
I think we can all agree on this one obviously, right? Having the same passion and enthusiasm for The Great Pumpkin as Linus did on Charlie Brown. Writing letters to him and awaiting his arrival is something I miss greatly. (Hopefully everyone catches onto this reference or else I probably sound really weird).
