6 Reasons Why Everyone Should Visit California

I visited California last summer, and let me tell you that it was seriously life-changing. I learned a lot about myself, all while not having a care in the world. And so this is my testimony as to why I think everyone should visit California at some point.

1. It’s so warm.

Coming from Indiana where the weather is always fluctuating, it was nice to go somewhere where the weather was pretty constant (75 and sunny everyday?!). It was always perfect weather to fire up the grill and cook hamburgers or steak. Also, It never rained while I was there, and I stayed for a week and a half.

2. Wal-Mart tells you that you’re beautiful.

No joke, this is so real. Here’s a picture I took, at the cash register, as proof. How cool!

3. It’s such a different atmosphere.

I’ve been to several states around the country; Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and the list goes on. But I can definitely say that California is a completely different atmosphere than the others. It’s so diverse and completely free. And who doesn't love palm trees in the middle of the city?!

4. The food!

The food there is also so different than other places. This is a good state for good grilled food, good Southern food and even good seafood, because it just such a diverse place. My family and I visited this place called Bluewater Boathouse, and they had the best lobster I’ve ever had (pictured above). We also ate at a restaurant called La Siesta and had some of the best burritos and salsa ever (and I’m not very big on burritos). If you head to the store there (Something like Costco or Ralph’s) you can see anything and everything you could think of. Anything organic, sushi in containers, wine in funky shaped bottles and pineapple juice in bottles instead of canned! The food in Cali was absolutely one of my favorite things.

5. The scenery.

A little background here: my cousin currently lives in California, so she knew some places that we could go with great views. But even if you don’t know these secret places, just head on over to any local beach and you’re liable to find just about any beautiful water view you could want.

6. LAX.

There is always a big hype about the L.A. Airport and I can see why. I went to LAX twice; once to drop off my mom, and another time when I was flying back to ol’ Indiana. The sign alone is super cool, and that’s not even mentioning the fact that they have their own Snapchat story! I could have easily gotten lost inside there, but luckily I didn't.

My time in California was way too short. From arriving on base, walking the town one day, traveling to San Diego, eating at so many yummy restaurants and stopping at several cool shops, my vacation flew by. Hopefully I'll be able to go back soon, because I already miss it so much.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
