Of all the great mysteries in this world, perhaps the most baffling to me is the fact that there are people who can get through their day without eating breakfast. Sure, it's the most important meal of the day. That fact has been ingrained in us since we were kids. But if we're honest with ourselves, there's plenty more reasons why this food category is hands-down the absolute best. Here are just a few of them:
1. It's satisfying.
When you start out your day (correctly, might I add) with a ginormous breakfast, then you won't be insanely hungry all morning and dying for a snack when the clock hits 10 A.M. This is especially important if you're a busy college student who has classes all day and maybe doesn't even have time for lunch.
2. It's delicious.
Warm blueberry pancakes drenched in maple syrup... a massive omelet stuffed with endless amounts of cheese and ham and veggies... a cinnamon roll as big as your head smothered in yummy icing... if these images don't make you start drooling immediately, then something's wrong with you.
3. It can be combined with lunch.
Whoever thought of combining breakfast and lunch deserves an award and has my undying gratitude. Brunch is the perfect solution for weekend mornings when you want to sleep in, and you're in that awkward too-late-for-breakfast-too-early-for-lunch time.
4. It's full of variety.
Some people prefer their breakfast to be like the queen of England's, full of dainty scones and muffins and fresh fruit. Others prefer the breakfast of champions, loaded with a ginormous portion of eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, and a giant burrito. Both of these categories are tasty and can be modified to fit the occasion.
5. One word: Bacon.
God's gift to humanity.
And now, the most important reason why breakfast food is the greatest food of them all:
6. It can be eaten at any time of the day.
If you asked me what my favorite thing to eat for dinner is, I would say breakfast. Yes, it's that good. It can be eaten at any time of the day. A giant stack of waffles tastes just as amazing at 11 at night as it does at 9 in the morning. And that, my friends, is the true beauty of breakfast.
