Halloween is a holiday loved and celebrated amongst children, but why shouldn’t adults enjoy it just as much as their smaller counterparts? Here are 6 reasons to treat next Halloween like you did when you were a kid.
1. Just because we’re older, doesn’t mean we’re any less fun.
Yes, some of us may close our blinds, turn out all our lights and pretend we’re not home for trick-or-treaters, but we’re not all Ebenezer Scrooge! For some, the only thing age has done to our Halloween spirit is give us better costume ideas.
2. Everyone deserves to feel what it's like to be someone or something else from time to time.
Halloween is the perfect time to do this. You can dress up as any vampire, princess, super villain, drag queen, movie character, or inanimate object without feeling the wrath of others’ judgment. Shielding your face behind an ornate mask is okay. Putting on an inflatable green fat suit is equally as acceptable, and even more entertaining.
3. Nostalgia is one of those feelings we simultaneously love and hate.
And Halloween is full of it! Whether it’s watching your children dress up as your favorite character or getting back in your creepy old plastic face mask and suit from 1975, you feel the memories flooding back with every bite of a mini Hershey bar and lick of a dumdum.
4. You get to share your love and excitement with your children.
Parents love watching the little version of themselves running around the neighborhood dressed up as the newest super hero, princess, and evrything in between. Why not get out there and join them? Don't you remember what it feels like to be a carefree kid in an overpriced costume on a serious sugar high?
5. It’s perfectly acceptable to put a hold on your diet for the day
They should really call Halloween “National Cheat Day.” You can deal with the consequences of eating a pillowcase full of chemicals tomorrow.
6. It's tradition!
Traditions can change, but dressing up and trick-or treating on Halloween is here to stay.
That being said, I hope everyone young and old had a great Halloween. Now who's ready for Santa?
