With parents weekend coming up, students are either stressing at the thought of their parents living so close to their college lives for a few days, or counting down the days until they get here. I, personally, am excited, and I think everyone needs a little reminder of why parents weekend is actually awesome.
- Watching them tailgate like college kids. Parents love to relive their college years, especially with their college children. Being in a game-day setting brings them back and they become Mizzou’s biggest fans and most fun-loving parents; but you might want to limit the amount of beers they shotgun before the game starts, just a thought.
- Buying groceries. Grocery shopping can be the most annoying part of anyone’s day, especially a lazy college kid who clearly has better things to do. Nothing's better than having your parents take you shopping, buy you food other than ramen noodles, and make every decision for you in the store.
- Having someone interested in every aspect of your life. Whether you love it or hate it at the time, it’s nice to have some interest shown about what’s going on in your life. They’re interested in everything and want every detail, from the decorations in your apartment bathroom to all your friend-drama.
- Free food. This speaks for itself. It’s always fantastic to have your Sonic dinners substituted with something nicer, and free. I get to pick where we eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner? AND I don’t have to pay for it? Can my parents never leave?
- Getting all the gossip from back home. Your parents want to hear about your life, but they also can’t wait to fill you in on theirs. They’ll give you all the details about your creepy new neighbor, or your old high school coach.
- Most importantly, you get to spend quality time with the people who love you more than anyone ever could. You might not ever admit it, but you miss your parents as soon as they leave, and you want parents weekend to be every weekend.
